Once again CJSR proudly co-sponsors the University of Alberta’s International Week, February 3 to February 7. I-Week 2020 features 17 talks on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals that world leaders have committed to for a better world by 2030.
Who are the people in our community championing the movement towards eliminating poverty and hunger, caring for our environment and reducing consumption to benefit all of us (humans, animals, and plants included)? At I-Week 2020, we will hear from dynamic speakers who, in 17 minutes, will enlighten us on work they are doing, along with actions we can take to help our local, national and global communities achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
International Week 2020 will shine a light on many of the issues faced around the world and will offer hope and opportunity for action. I-Week speakers will connect their work to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted by all member states in 2015. These 17 goals call on governments and civil society around the globe to address some of our most pressing issues from poverty and education to health and environment.
Attend I-Week for keynote lectures, presentations and short dynamic Global Goals Talks to learn about the SDGs and the people working to help Canada achieve the 2030 agenda.
International Week is the largest annual extracurricular educational event on campus and fosters global citizenship through engagement with today’s most pressing issues – see the program for more details.
All International Week events are free and open to the public. Events take place on University of Alberta’s North Campus, Campus Saint Jean, and Augustana Campus.
